The book by the greatest Russian philosopher of the first half of the twentieth century, Nikolai Berdyaev includes lectures on basic problems of religious philosophy of history, delivered during the winter of 1919/20 at the Academy of Spiritual Culture. "The construction of a religious philosophy of history is, apparently, the vocation of Russian philosophical thought. The original Russian thought is directed towards the eschatological trial of the end, it is painted apocalyptically. This is how it differs from Western thought. But this also gives it, above all, the character of a religious philosophy of history. I have always been particularly interested in the philosophy of history. The world war and the revolution sharpened this interest and directed my studies mainly in this direction" (N. Berdyaev).
